Sometimes I wake up and the world feels a little gray, even if nothing bad has happened. It's like a quiet fog has drifted into my day. If you've ever felt this way too, please know something important: feeling sad is normal, and it doesn't mean anything is wrong with you.
What I Do on My 'Gray Days'
I don't try to push the sadness away. Instead, I give myself a little kindness and try small things that help me feel lighter:
- I draw my feelings. I don't care if it looks "good" or not. Sometimes I draw clouds, sometimes I draw sunshine fighting its way through. Drawing gives my feelings a place to live outside of me.
- I listen to music. A calm song can feel like a blanket, and a cheerful song can remind me that better moments are waiting around the corner.
- I talk to someone I trust. I might whisper to a grown-up, or share with a kind friend here on WhisperPlanet. Saying "I feel sad today" out loud makes the feeling less heavy to carry.
Remember This
Feelings are like visitors: they come, stay for a little while, and then move on. Sadness won't last forever, even if it feels big right now. What matters most is you don't have to go through it alone. Every kid feels sad sometimes, and every kid deserves gentle care, including you.
Next time the fog rolls in, try one of these ideas. And if today is a gray day for you, I'm glad you're here-together we can wait for the sun to shine again.
